Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking a Domiciliary Care Worker to support adults in their own homes across Gateshead. You’ll provide compassionate, practical care and help service users regain independence, with shifts discussed at interview and a hybrid-working setup that supports work-life balance.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, enabling services, and personalised outcomes, with DBS checks and training provided as part of ongoing development.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent; commitment to training towards this with support.
• Experience in care environments or community services.
• Experience providing personal care in a social care setting.
• Ability to show compassion and empathy in meeting care needs.
• Ability to provide sensitive and dignified personal care regardless of gender.
• Respect for diverse backgrounds and needs.
• Ability to work on own initiative and seek guidance as needed.
• Willingness to undertake essential training, possibly outside usual hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal and practical care to support independence and dignity.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of service users by following policies and procedures.
• Assist line managers with monitoring, and provide feedback on wellbeing and progress.
• Use devices to access rotas, emails, and care systems; record care and medication accurately.
