Job description

Join our dynamic advocacy team at POhWER, dedicated to empowering communities and enhancing service delivery in Gloucester. We are seeking a motivated Community Development Worker who is passionate about making a difference by identifying service gaps and fostering strong networks within the community.

Hours of Work:

Part-Time: 22.2 hours, working between 9am - 5pm, Monday – Friday.

Location:

Home-based with travel around the Gloucester area. (Applicants should live in the Gloucester area)

Salary:

Part-time salary £15,058.80 per annum (Full-time salary equivalent £25,098.00 per annum)

Fixed Term

Community Development Worker Requirements
  • Strong communication and time management skills to work effectively remotely.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn software packages such as client management databases.
  • Attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and reporting within tight deadlines.
Desirable
  • Experience in advocacy, information and advice, or similar roles within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults.
  • Knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.

We provide comprehensive induction, training, and equipment, including a laptop and mobile phone. All advocates are required to hold or work towards an advocacy qualification, such as the City and Guilds Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice Qualification (IAP) or the Level 3 National Advocacy Qualification (NAQ). POhWER sponsors this qualification, providing study time and support, with a 12-month completion target post-probation.
