Job summary

The Nelson Trust in Gloucestershire is seeking a compassionate Community Connector to support clients completing treatment and to develop their recovery capital. You will bridge structured treatment with aftercare, coordinating services and advocating for clients.

The role requires safeguarding knowledge, strong communication, and a collaborative approach. It is a permanent, full-time position based in Gloucestershire with 35 hours/week, 25 days holiday, and a 6% employer pension contribution.

Qualifications

• Experience in substance misuse support and needs assessments.
• Lived experience of addiction and recovery is highly valued.
• Strong safeguarding and recovery capital knowledge.
• NVQ Level 3 or above (or willingness to work towards it).
• Excellent communication, IT, and listening skills.
• Warm, approachable, and a true team player.
• Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
• Commitment to confidentiality, equality, and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual assessments and develop personalised recovery plans.
• Provide crisis intervention and assist clients in accessing necessary services.
• Facilitate participation in mutual aid groups and information on addiction and relapse prevention.
• Monitor progress, advocate for clients, involve family members and support volunteer activities.
• Report safeguarding concerns and support recovery coaching and peer mentoring.
• Coordinate recreational activities and community events.
