Job summary

The Nelson Trust in Gloucestershire is seeking a compassionate Community Connector to support clients completing treatment and to develop their recovery capital. You will bridge structured treatment with aftercare, coordinating services and advocating for clients.

The role requires safeguarding knowledge, strong communication, and a collaborative approach. It is a permanent, full-time position based in Gloucestershire with 35 hours/week, 25 days holiday, and a 6% employer pension contribution.

Qualifications

  • Experience in substance misuse support and needs assessments.
  • Lived experience of addiction and recovery is highly valued.
  • Strong safeguarding and recovery capital knowledge.
  • NVQ Level 3 or above (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Excellent communication, IT, and listening skills.
  • Warm, approachable, and a true team player.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, equality, and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

This role involves supporting clients who have completed treatment and need help to further develop their recovery capital. You will act as a bridge between structured treatment and aftercare, ensuring clients receive compassionate and collaborative services.

  • Facilitate participation in mutual aid groups and provide information on addiction and relapse prevention.
  • Monitor progress, advocate for clients, involve family members, and support volunteer activities.
  • Report all safeguarding concerns and support the delivery of recovery coaching and peer mentoring programmes.
  • Coordinate recreational activities and community events.
