Job summary

The Salvation Army Cambridge Citadel operates a Hub Café and is seeking a motivated cook to join a growing team. You will prepare and cook high‑quality food for customers as part of an effective catering service, handling breakfast and lunch orders and assisting with menu planning to meet dietary needs and preferences.

You will ensure compliance with health and safety standards, keep the kitchen clean, and supervise assistants and volunteers while upholding the organisation's values and ethos.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing and serving food in a commercial kitchen.
• Able to supervise colleagues, programme participants and volunteers.
• Proficiency in English.
• Commitment to the values, aims and ethos of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Cook to order breakfast and lunch for customers.
• Plan healthy and nutritious menus that are cost‑effective for the service.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental health and hygiene standards are maintained (COSHH/best practice).
• Leave the kitchen clean and tidy after service.
• Supervise Assistants and Volunteers and provide training where needed.
