Overview

One of the UKs most inspiring and best-known faith-based organisations, is looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Chef.

The Salvation Army, Norwich Citadel, Catherines Coffee Lounge, has operated for many years. It plays a major part in the weekly mission activities of The Salvation Army, bringing together individuals and offering fellowship, company, and good food. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of the team. The successful applicant will prepare and cook good-quality food for the programme.

Key responsibilities

• The post-holder will plan healthy and nutritious menus that are cost-effective for the service, considering any nutritional and dietary requirements and customer opinion.


• The post-holder will ensure that current health and safety, environmental health and hygiene standards, and other appropriate regulations and procedures are maintained within the catering facility (e.g., BFH / COSHH) and that food storage is carried out to approved British standards.


• Leaving everything clean and tidy.

Candidate profile

• Have good knowledge and experience in preparing and serving food in a commercial kitchen environment.


• Be able to influence others and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, programme participants and external stakeholders.


• It is important that the candidate understands the communitys needs and has proficiency in English.


• Ability to supervise the work of Assistants and Volunteers and provide training where necessary in collaboration with the Corps Officer/Community Manager.


• Candidates must also be committed to the values, aims and ethos of The Salvation Army.
