Job summary

St Elizabeth’s Centre in Much Hadham is seeking a Community Bus Driver to provide safe, person-centred transport for adults with learning disabilities.

You'll operate larger vehicles, ensure passenger safety, plan journeys, and help passengers board and alight. The role includes daily vehicle checks and maintaining a friendly, professional service; DBS checks and UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Hold substantial driving experience with larger vehicles.
• Valid UK driving licence classes B, BE and D1.
• MiDAS certificate or willingness to train.
• Over 25 for insurance purposes.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport clients and support staff to and from community activities.
• Provide a friendly, professional and respectful service that puts passenger wellbeing first.
• Secure wheelchairs and specialist equipment safely before travel.
• Plan journeys effectively, considering timings, traffic conditions and individual passenger needs.
• Assist passengers boarding and exiting vehicles where required.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any concerns promptly.
• Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe and presentable condition.
