Job description

Community and Events Fundraising Volunteer

Location: 410 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough / Off site venues

Time Requirement: Flexible to suit you (2–5 days per week)

DBS Check needed? No

Age Requirements: From 18 years old plus

Please note: You must have access to your own transport and provide the appropriate driver documentation.

Role Description:

This voluntary role supports the community and event fundraising team by assisting with planning, preparation, and delivery of fundraising activities, campaigns, and events. You will work alongside professional fundraisers to help raise funds for Teesside Hospice, contributing to developing our income to support local people with a terminal illness, enabling them to live as well as possible, for as long as possible. Activities may include Christmas Campaigns such as Light up a Life and Rudolph Run, coordinating collection tins, bucket collections, and working on events like Midnight Walk, Balls, and other community activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing unpaid/voluntary help for fundraising activities or events.
  • Researching potential support and promoting campaigns and events.
  • Assisting with promotional opportunities, planning, and preparation.
  • Recruiting event participants and supporting stewardship of fundraisers.
  • Supporting the Community and Events Fundraisers' work.
  • Following Teesside Hospice policies and procedures.
  • Participating in training and meetings.
  • Communicating absences promptly.
  • Assisting with event setups, supervision, and cleanup.
  • Distributing marketing materials and providing information to the public.
  • Working collaboratively with other volunteers.
  • Completing necessary documentation.
  • Demonstrating compassion, empathy, politeness, and professionalism.
Training Requirements:
  • Mandatory hospice training including cash handling and data protection.
  • Volunteer induction training.
  • Additional role-specific training as needed.
Support and Supervision:

Your primary support will come from your manager within the Community and Events Fundraising team. You'll join a professional team, gaining skills and experience in fundraising and communications, with opportunities for personal development.

Communication:

The team will keep you updated on information, training, and upcoming events. You will receive a Teesside Hospice volunteer ID badge.
