Angus Council is seeking a Communities Officer (Youth Work) to design, deliver and assess community learning activities for young people aged 11-25. The role is full-time (36.25 hours), permanent, and based in Angus with hybrid working arrangements across council buildings and community sites.

Responsibilities include 1:1 support in schools, plus possible community-based youth work, transitions, holiday programmes and related accreditation support.

Job description

As a Communities Officer you will work with colleagues, communities and learners to design, deliver and assess community learning and development activities with young people aged 11-25 years old.

  • Location: Angus/Hybrid
  • Salary: £39,634 to £43,018 per year

You will have the opportunity to benefit from Angus Council’s flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from a variety of locations, working from council buildings, working in service user’s locations and site visits and you can work from home to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.

As a Communities Officer you will work with colleagues, communities and learners to design, deliver and assess community learning and development activities with young people aged 11-25 years old.

The development of learning opportunities will be responsive to the needs of young people in the Angus area. Delivery will predominantly focus on 1:1 support in schools but may also include community based youth work, transition, holiday programmes and detached as well as support around awards and accreditation.

Angus Council is looking for passionate, dedicated and adaptable staff who hold the degree in Community Education or equivalent. Please refer to the CLD Standards Council for acceptable equivalent qualifications before applying.

You will work 36.25 hours per week which will include some evening and weekend working.

As this job covers the Angus area, a current driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
