Job summary

The Senior Youth Worker role at Orkney Islands Council coordinates and runs the youth club, working with the General Youth Worker to develop an engaging programme for members. The role entails 2 hours per week, 20 weeks per year, with flexibility discussed where possible.

The above amounts include Distant Islands Allowance.

You will be reporting to a Community Learning and Development Officer.

Your working pattern is 2 hours per week, 20 weeks per year. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.

The Senior Youth Worker is responsible for the co-ordination and running of the club, and along with the General Youth Worker is expected to work with the members to develop an interesting programme of activities in the youth club.

You should have experience and an understanding of working with children and young people in an informal setting. Therefore, if you are keen to get involved in youth work and wish to further develop your current experience in supporting and working with young people, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

In addition, the appointed person will be required to attend other meetings and will be offered a comprehensive training programme, over and above club sessions.

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
