Norwich City Council is seeking two skilled Communications Officers to join their expanding team, responsible for developing and delivering communication strategies that promote council services. The positions require motivated and collaborative professionals who can build strong relationships and contribute positively to their community.
Are you a skilled and confident communicator who can plan, develop, and deliver relevant and engaging content to the right audience at the right time using a wide variety of channels?
This is a rare opportunity to join our team as we expand. We are hiring for two permanent Communications Officers: one full-time and one part-time (22 hours).
You will need to be highly motivated, collaborative, and positive communications professionals with proven industry experience. As essential team members, you will help promote the city council’s services and the people it serves, aligning your work with the council’s key priorities outlined in ‘We are Norwich’—our community-led plan.
Your role will include shaping and delivering internal and external communication strategies and plans, as well as providing official responses to media inquiries. You will be confident in offering expert advice to elected members, officers, and other stakeholders at all levels.
The successful candidates will report directly to the Communications Manager and should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively. You will need to be a skilled negotiator, capable of building strong relationships across the council, with a professional and flexible attitude. Prioritizing your workload effectively across planned and reactive tasks will be essential.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team of motivated, experienced communications professionals who are passionate about serving Norwich’s residents and ensuring the future success of the city.
If this opportunity excites you, trust your instincts and get in touch. Please note, shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a written exercise as part of the selection process.
For an informal discussion before applying, contact Sharon Page, Communications Manager, at 01603 989513.
