Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to turn business priorities into engaging communication and engagement plans for a 2,000-strong Trade Specialist community. • Proven experience in corporate communications, internal communications, public relations or a similar environment.
• Experience developing and delivering communication plans that drive engagement and deliver results.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content for a variety of audiences.
• A natural relationship-builder who can confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• A passion for uncovering stories and turning them into engaging communications.
• A proactive, curious and self-motivated approach, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to develop and deliver communication and engagement plans that support business priorities.
• Create compelling content for internal channels, social media, leadership events and wider business communications.
• Visit projects, depots and manufacturing facilities to capture stories and engage directly with our Trade Specialist community.
• Build strong relationships with supervisors, construction managers, project leaders and key stakeholders across the business.
• Support leadership engagement activities and helping bring key messages to life.
• Showcase the incredible work of our people externally to strengthen our brand, reputation and recruitment efforts.
• Measure the effectiveness of communication activities and identify opportunities to continuously improve engagement.

Are you an experienced communications professional who knows how to turn business priorities into meaningful communication and engagement plans? At Laing O'Rourke, we're looking for a Communications Manager to help shape how we engage with and celebrate our 2,000-strong community of Trade Specialists. Joining at a pivotal time for the business, you'll develop and deliver communication strategies that drive engagement, strengthen our safety culture, support our "Trades to Technicians" journey, and showcase the people who are at the heart of delivering some of the UK's most significant construction and engineering projects.

What you'll be doing

• Partnering with stakeholders to develop and deliver communication and engagement plans that support business priorities
• Creating compelling content for internal channels, social media, leadership events and wider business communications
• Visiting projects, depots and manufacturing facilities to capture stories and engage directly with our Trade Specialist community
• Building strong relationships with supervisors, construction managers, project leaders and key stakeholders across the business
• Supporting leadership engagement activities and helping bring key messages to life
• Showcasing the incredible work of our people externally to strengthen our brand, reputation and recruitment efforts
• Measuring the effectiveness of communication activities and identifying opportunities to continuously improve engagement

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in corporate communications, internal communications, public relations or a similar environment

• Experience in video production, communications measurement or change communications is desirable but not essential
