Job description

Communications Coordinator

This Communications Coordinator role is an opportunity to help tell the story of City in the Community through engaging digital content. Working closely with the Communications Officer and wider marketing team, you will source, create and schedule multimedia content that showcases our impact, strengthens our reach and helps bring our work to life for audiences across Manchester.

Who We Are

Established in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. We support people across Manchester by empowering healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

Our Communications and Engagement team plays a key role in sharing the charity’s story, connecting people to our purpose and helping ensure our work is visible, relevant and impactful. Through creative content, digital campaigns and collaboration across the charity, we help celebrate the difference City in the Community makes every day.

The Role

You will play an important part in the delivery of City in the Community’s communications and digital content, with a particular focus on videography and editorial. Day to day, you will source compelling stories and case studies, create engaging content for our digital channels and help ensure our social media and website reflect the breadth and impact of our work.

Working closely with the Communications Officer, you will maintain content planning systems, support monthly reporting and help shape a strategic, youth-led approach to digital communications. You will also be expected to respond positively to emerging priorities and use your own initiative where suitable to spot opportunities, apply creative thinking, keep content moving and support the wider communications strategy.

Alongside digital content creation, you will use Adobe templates to produce graphic design assets for social media and printed materials, support the internal charity newsletter and collaborate with the Marketing team to maximise the reach of content across Manchester City platforms. This is a varied role that requires creativity, organisation and a confident, proactive approach.

You will also help ensure that City in the Community and CFG policies and procedures are followed, with safeguarding embedded to the highest standard across the team. The role includes working across Greater Manchester, so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.

What You’ll Bring
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as videography, media or journalism.
  • Experience working in communications, marketing or media, with a focus on creating digital content.
  • Confident video creation and editing skills, with experience of Adobe Premiere Pro, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of digital technologies, social media platforms and emerging trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your tone and content for different audiences.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A positive, proactive approach, with the ability to work well as part of a team, use your own initiative where suitable, and manage a deadline-driven workload.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across Greater Manchester.
Why Choose Us

Guided by our values of being caring, inclusive, transformative and youth-led, we are committed to creating an environment where our team feel supported, valued and able to make a meaningful difference through the work they do every day.

  • As part of our team, you will receive 26 days’ annual leave plus a day off for your birthday and an annual discretionary bonus. You will also have access to a Health Cash Plan, Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 GP support, and a company pension and life assurance.
  • You can enjoy a range of additional benefits, including discounted match tickets, savings in the City Store, a free City+ subscription, stadium tour discounts, and wider retail and lifestyle offers.
