Introduction

JOIN US AS A COMMUNICATIONS AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

This role aims to create and execute a Communications and Engagement Strategy for both church and external audiences. The goal is to share the story of the funding programme and its impact on communities and lives.

The post holder will work with the Vision and Strategy Team, Digital and Communications Teams, NCI colleagues, and Diocesan Communicators across the country. They will promote the work and opportunities provided by the Vision and Strategy, for the Church of England by effectively communicating the work of the funding distributed and overseen by the Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment Board, highlighting examples that inspire people both across the Church of England and externally, and demonstrate its effect on everyday lives.

Summary of main responsibilities

  • Take the lead on the delivery of the Communications and Engagement Strategy for funded grant programme.
  • Proactively identify and exploit PR and communication opportunities.
  • Communication planning, reporting and monitoring.
  • Building key stakeholder relationships, this includes external suppliers and agencies.
  • Monitor press coverage and distribute key stories to internal contacts.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of engagement events (online and onsite).

Key role requirements

This is an office-based role, with the expectation to work from the office 2 days per week.

You will need to be/have:

  • Ability to juggle competing priorities, achieve outcomes and deliver projects under a constrained deadline.
  • Good knowledge of working practices, methodologies and software tools in communications including using newsletters, intranets, social media, print and other channels to engage and inform effectively.
  • Previous experience delivering a communications and engagement strategy.
  • An engaging communicator with the ability to adjust communications to a varying range of audiences, enabling them to feel heard and able to participate.
  • Event management and project management experience.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships with colleagues and external partners, including senior leaders.
  • Ability to solve problems, generate new ideas and suggest change.

  • A salary of £48,557 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
