Job description

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and motivated professional to become part of The Autism Inclusion Team.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time (32.5 hours) peripatetic Communication Support Worker (CSW) starting in September 2025. This position is based in Burton and Tamworth education settings.

Main Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Specialist Teacher and fellow CSW colleagues, supporting students across mainstream settings from Nursery to Post 16.
  • Have day-to-day responsibility of a designated casework area, supporting settings to meet the needs of Autistic children/young people, which may include resourced schools.
  • Teach relevant skills required (which may include individual teaching, support teaching, advisory, preparation of learning materials) ensuring maximum curricular access.
  • Assist in ensuring the social and emotional needs of the Autistic child/young person are appropriately managed by supporting pupils, schools/settings, and parents/carers.
  • Promote and build capacity by delivering training for schools, other settings, and agencies.
  • Support the Team Lead in developing and delivering commissioning and traded aspects of the service.
The Ideal Candidate
  • You will be an experienced teaching assistant, communication support worker, or teacher with a strong background in supporting Autistic learners in educational environments.
  • You will be passionate about inclusion and committed to neuro-affirming approaches that empower every child to thrive and reach their full potential.
  • Although based within settings in Burton and Tamworth, there might be instances of cover support required around the county, plus attendance at team meetings at the central Stafford base.
