Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in London is seeking several Communication Support Workers to join our learning support team for the September 2026 start through July 2027. You will support deaf and hard of hearing learners across various curriculum areas, helping them access studies and achieve their potential.

Ideal candidates will have BSL Level 4 or 6, experience with deaf learners, excellent communication, and a flexible, proactive approach.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide communication support to deaf and hard of hearing learners across curriculum areas.

• Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt materials and modify delivery to support understanding.

About the Role

A further education provider in London is looking for several Communication Support Workers to join their learning support team, with an anticipated start date of September 2026 running through to July 2027.

You’ll work closely with deaf and hard of hearing learners across a variety of curriculum areas, providing high-quality communication and learning support that helps them access their studies and achieve their potential.

This opportunity would suit candidates from a range of backgrounds, including further education, schools, specialist education, residential care, supported living or support work.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• BSL Level 4 or 6 (or equivalent)
• Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired individuals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learners
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience as a BSL Interpreter, Teacher of the Deaf, Learning Support Practitioner, Learning Support Assistant, Specialist Support Worker, SEND Support Worker, Deaf Support Worker, Teaching Assistant (BSL) or Education Support Worker
