Your day will involve analysing supplier markets, identifying sourcing opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements and working with strategic suppliers to improve performance. You will lead a cross‑functional commodity circle, bringing together colleagues from different areas of the business to align sourcing decisions with current requirements and longer‑term objectives.

You will also monitor market developments, manufacturing cost drivers and supply chain risks, adapting your strategy to maintain supply continuity and improve competitiveness. Through supplier visits, business reviews and performance reporting, you will build strong commercial relationships and demonstrate the value of your commodity strategy.

  • At least five years of experience in supplier‑facing purchasing, strategic sourcing, commodity management or technical roles, with the ability to independently manage complex sourcing activities.
  • Experience working with technical commodities in a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally involving machined components, with an understanding of relevant manufacturing processes. Knowledge of metal forming processes would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, including experience managing supplier contracts, pricing agreements, contractual terms and conditions and supplier performance.
  • Good analytical skills, with experience in market research, spend analysis, cost evaluation, supplier risk assessment and identifying opportunities to improve total cost of ownership.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality, business management and suppliers. Experience coaching or reviewing the work of others would be beneficial.
