Job description

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, a great opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and technically capable Commissioning Manager to join our expanding Operations team.

This opportunity would suit either an experienced Commissioning Manager within the fire suppression industry or a technically strong sprinkler commissioning engineer looking to take the next step in their career. Conversely, this role may also be well suited to candidates from a mechanical pipe services or building services commissioning background, where the transferable technical knowledge and project delivery skills lend themselves well to a transition into the fire suppression industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the commissioning of approximately 10-15 live projects at various stages of delivery.
  • Coordinate and support Commissioning Engineers and Installation teams.
  • Create clear, accurate and comprehensive commissioning reports across all allocated schemes for Director approval before formal issue to the relevant client.
  • Manage the commissioning process from installation completion through testing, certification and final handover.
  • Maintain accurate oversight of commissioning progress, defects, remedial works, certification status, technical issues and outstanding actions.
  • Plan and coordinate commissioning activities, resources and attendance to suit project programmes.
  • Work closely with Design, Commercial, Projects and Installation teams to drive successful project completion.
  • Review technical drawings, hydraulic calculations, cause and effect documentation, specifications and commissioning requirements.
  • Attend site and client meetings and represent professionally at all times.
  • Monitor commissioning quality, compliance and programme performance.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, commissioning audits and quality checks.
  • Proactively identify technical issues, commissioning risks and programme delays and drive them through to resolution.
  • Coordinate witness testing with clients, consultants, insurers, LPCB, approving authorities and other relevant stakeholders where required.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation, O&M manuals, certificates and handover documentation are complete and issued in accordance with project requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring technical issues and implementing best practice across the business.
Beneficial Skills / Experience:
  • Strong technical knowledge of sprinkler and/or fire suppression systems.
  • Previous commissioning experience within the sprinkler, water mist or wider fire protection industry.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple live commissioning projects.
  • Strong reporting skills and the ability to collate detailed information from multiple projects into concise and accurate management reports.
  • A thorough understanding of testing, commissioning, fault finding and system validation.
  • The ability to read and interpret drawings, hydraulic calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
  • The confidence to liaise directly with clients, consultants, main contractors and approving bodies.
  • A proactive and commercially aware approach to project delivery.
