Job summary

Bekk R Solutions seeks an experienced Commissioning Manager for Plymouth and national UK responsibilities. You will lead commissioning across complex building services, setting strategy, coordinating with specialists, and ensuring fully operational handover to clients.

You will act as technical authority from planning through testing, witnessing, and final handover, coaching teams, and managing risks on major projects within the MEP sector.

Commissioning Manager sought, Plymouth / National UK.

We are actively seeking applications for a Commissioning Manager, mechanical / electrical / building services engineering, to join a client of ours, a progressive tier 1 MEP Contractor looking for further commissioning management support.

You will have CSA accreditations in addition to a strong technical M / E bias within the Building Services Engineering sector.

I’m recruiting for an experienced Project Commissioning Manager to take ownership of all commissioning activities on complex, large‑scale engineering and construction projects. This is a senior, high‑impact role where you’ll set the strategy, lead the team, and ensure systems are delivered fully operational, compliant, and aligned with client expectations.

You’ll act as the technical authority for commissioning, providing leadership and assurance from early planning stages through to testing, client witnessing, and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Commissioning Leadership & DeliveryDefine, assemble, and manage the commissioning team, including specialist subcontractors.
• Develop and maintain the Project Commissioning Plan covering strategy, programmes, ITPs, reporting, training, and handover documentation.
• Ensure commissioning activities meet project, contractual, and client requirements, securing approvals and witnessing as needed.
• Provide assurance that all testing is completed with calibrated equipment and fully documented.
• Planning & Programme ManagementReview designs and installation works to optimise commissioning readiness and efficiency.Support the Planning Manager with programme development, sequencing, and progress reporting.
• Training & CompetenceEnsure commissioning personnel and specialist providers are suitably qualified and competent.Lead the selection and appointment of commissioning specialists in line with project and regulatory requirements.
• Risk ManagementIdentify commissioning‑related risks, elevate issues promptly, and contribute to wider project risk management.
• Reporting & Stakeholder EngagementReport progress against programme, FATs/SATs, testing status, subcontractor performance, constraints, and corrective actions.
• ead commissioning meetings and represent commissioning at client and stakeholder progress reviews.
• Team LeadershipMotivate and manage the commissioning team through clear objectives and regular performance review.Foster a collaborative, high‑performing environment and lead by example.
• Project CloseoutLead client witnessing, demonstrations, and seasonal commissioning activities.Ensure all test records and commissioning documentation are completed and included in handover packs.Support the compilation of O&M manuals and wider project handover materials.
