Job Description: Commissioning Manager
Location: West Midlands
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Package (18 month FTC)
About the Role:
As the Commissioning Manager, you will lead and support the successful handover of assets associated with the expansion projects. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will ensure a smooth transition of project assets in compliance with established procedures. You will be the key coordinator for documentation, verification, and onsite commissioning activities, contributing to the efficient management of technical information and ensuring assets meet design, safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the asset handover process for expansion projects, ensuring all activities align with project requirements and industry safety standards.
- Maintain on-site presence during commissioning and handover to oversee compliance, snagging, remedies, and other tasks.
- Act as the primary coordination point between internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Manage and verify project documentation, drawings, and data to ensure compliance with Document Control (DC) workflows and ISO 19650 standards.
- Support Project Officers and Document Coordinators in obtaining, verifying, and uploading technical information into the Common Data Environment (CDE) in line with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Exchange Information Requirements (ExIR).
- Collate and communicate feedback from internal teams to external partners through established DC processes.
- Provide expertise in asset lifecycle management through integration with document control systems such as Bentley ProjectWise.
- Assist in interpreting 2D CAD drawings and reports; knowledge of 3D CAD is advantageous.
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of progress reports, surveys, and technical documentation.
- Foster strong working relationships across departments, stakeholders, and partner organisations to support project delivery.
- Perform any additional tasks reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional progression.
- Extensive experience in asset handover for large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally within rail, metro, civil engineering, or highways sectors.
- Familiarity with project management tools, document control systems, and protocols, including Bentley ProjectWise or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of ISO 19650 standards and their application to asset handover and document control.
- Proficiency in 2D CAD; 3D CAD experience is a plus.
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, with experience liaising with government bodies or local authorities in regulated environments.
- Competent with desktop IT tools and software.
- Demonstrated ability to write and interpret surveys, reports, and technical documentation.
- Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, and committed to professional presentation and adherence to company policies.
