Job summary

Nelson Recruitment are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join a well-established engineering business. You will lead commissioning, testing, and handover of diverse electrical, mechanical, and control systems across industrial and commercial projects.

You will ensure safe, efficient delivery to high-quality standards, liaising with clients and teams while travelling nationwide to sites. Strong fault-finding, drawings interpretation, and PLC/automation experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commissioning Engineer or similar role.
• Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Experience with PLCs, automation systems or industrial controls is advantageous.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Relevant engineering qualifications such as HNC, HND, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Commission and test electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Carry out site inspections, fault-finding, and system validation.
• Verify installations comply with design specifications and industry standards.
• Produce commissioning reports and technical documentation.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, contractors, and site teams.
• Support project delivery through the commissioning and handover stages.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues during commissioning activities.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Travel Nationwide for work.
