Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our South Wales team. The role covers end-to-end commissioning of electrical and control systems on customer sites, with responsibility from installation through handover.

You will fault-find, test, and troubleshoot using drawings and documentation, support installation teams, and produce commissioning reports while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience as an electrical engineer with a strong commissioning background.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnose faults.
  • Experience on customer sites and on-site commissioning.
  • Knowledge of power generation, industrial electrical systems, and control panels.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning and testing electrical and control systems on customer sites.
  • Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Testing control panels and associated electrical equipment.
  • Working from electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
  • Supporting installation and project teams throughout the commissioning process.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues on site.
  • Carrying out functional and operational testing.
  • Producing commissioning reports and relevant documentation.
  • Working closely with customers and providing technical support.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with relevant standards.

Commissioning Engineer
The Opportunity

A specialist engineering business in South Wales is looking to appoint an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join their growing team.

The company works across power generation, electrical systems and controls, delivering technically complex projects for a range of industrial and commercial customers.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer with commissioning experience who wants to work on varied projects, develop their technical expertise and take ownership of commissioning activities from installation through to successful handover.

The Role

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Commissioning and testing electrical and control systems on customer sites
  • Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Testing control panels and associated electrical equipment
  • Working from electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
  • Supporting installation and project teams throughout the commissioning process
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues on site
  • Carrying out functional and operational testing
  • Producing commissioning reports and relevant documentation
  • Working closely with customers and providing technical support

About You

We’re looking for an experienced electrical engineer with a strong commissioning background.

Experience within one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Power generation
  • Industrial electrical systems
  • Control systems
  • CHP
  • PLCs and automation
  • Switchgear and control panels
  • Electrical installation and commissioning

You should be confident reading electrical schematics and have strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

The role will suit someone who is comfortable working independently on customer sites, communicating directly with clients and taking ownership of technical issues through to resolution.
