Job summary

A recruitment agency in the engineering sector is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer for a major defence project in AWE Burghfield. The role involves ensuring the safe commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems in a highly regulated environment. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in commissioning processes and experience in regulated sectors such as nuclear or defence. This position offers a daily rate of £500 and is set to start ASAP through to Spring 2026.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer on large, complex projects.
  • Mechanical or Electrical engineering background (M&E preferred).
  • Experience in highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence, or energy.

Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning activities across M&E systems in line with approved procedures.
  • Support the development of commissioning documentation and test packs.
  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure operational readiness.
  • Interface with construction and design teams to resolve technical issues.

Commissioning Engineer - AWE Burghfield

Location : AWE Burghfield (full-time site-based)

Rate : £500 per day (Inside IR35)

Contract : ASAP start - through to Spring 2026

We're recruiting experienced Commissioning Engineers to join a major defence infrastructure project at AWE Burghfield. You'll play a key role in the delivery of commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, and process systems within a highly regulated environment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll ensure that systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project, regulatory, and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute commissioning activities across M&E systems in line with approved procedures and schedules.
  • Support the development of commissioning documentation, test packs, and handover records.
  • Conduct system testing, inspection, and validation to ensure operational readiness.
  • Interface with construction, design, and operations teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and project requirements.
  • Support senior commissioning and project management teams as required.
