The Lion Inn in Boreham, Chelmsford, Essex is seeking a Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. You will support preparation and delivery of high-quality dishes while developing your culinary skills in a professional setting.

As part of a renowned hospitality venue, you will work with experienced chefs, learn food hygiene practices, and contribute to a busy operation across the restaurant, hotel and events. No formal experience required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for cooking and quality food.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in a professional kitchen.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Excellent teamwork and communication with the kitchen staff.
• Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential.
• A catering qualification is an advantage but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh ingredients and assist with food preparation.
• Support the kitchen team during service across restaurant, hotel and events.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency.
• Follow food hygiene and safety procedures.
• Keep workstations clean, organised and well stocked.
