Job summary

The Westin London City is seeking a Commis Chef to join our luxury kitchen team. You will support breakfast service, maintain high standards and work closely with the Sous Chef to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Understand and adhere to the company’s rules and regulations on health & safety, hygiene and licensing.
• Ensure a safe working environment by identifying hazards and taking corrective action.
• Be flexible to assist the Sous Chef and other kitchen team members.
• Be a team player who thrives in a busy kitchen environment.
• Passion for food and willingness to learn.
• Experience in a similar commis role is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out standards for preparation and presentation of the food offering.
• Engage with guests regarding breakfast offerings.
• Manage breakfast service and ensure agreed standards are achieved.
• Support other kitchen sections as workload requires.
• Assist in production, service of food, and cleanup of the section as needed.
• Maintain quality control of all food to Head Chef’s and restaurant standards.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMIS CHEF AT THE WESTIN LONDON CITY HOTEL

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to theSous Chef, you can expect your working day to include the following.

• Set the standards with regards to preparation and presentation of the food offering.
• Engaging and communicating with guests regarding the breakfast offering.
• Manage your breakfast service and ensure agreed standards are achieved
• To carry out any other reasonable task requested by a member of the management team, to enable the business to run efficiently and smoothly
• To assist other sections of the kitchen in the production and service of food or the cleaning down of the section as and when required due to the workload
• To maintain constant quality control of all food prepared and cooked ensuring it is to the Head Chef’s and Restaurant standards.

To succeed in the role ofCommis Chef,you will need the following qualities and skills.

• Understand and adhere to the company’s rules and regulations on all policies and procedures such as fire, hygiene, health & safety and licensing regulations.
• Ensure a safe working environment identifying potential hazards and taking corrective action.
• To be flexible in your approach, and able to assist the Sous Chef and any other members of the kitchen brigade when required
• A team player who thrives in the hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen department
• Someone who is passionate about food and willing to learn
• Previous experience in a similar role, at commis level
• An understanding of quality control and kitchen standards
• Experience in a similar role in a 5 star hotel or a desire to learn
