Job summary

The Commercial Hotel in Biggar is seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. You will help our Head Chef deliver high-quality dishes across the restaurant, functions, and other food outlets.

You’ll start by setting up your station, work across sections, keep areas clean, and learn from experienced colleagues. We offer above-minimum wages with 10% service charges and all tips retained by the team. We provide free meals on shift and wellbeing resources.

• Set up and maintain your kitchen station at the start of each shift.
• Deliver consistently high-quality food across the kitchen, restaurant, and functions.
• Work with Head Chef and kitchen/FOH teams to create great guest experiences.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout service.

Our Commis Chefs are an important part of our kitchen teams, working with the Head Chef, kitchen and Front of House teams to deliver great hospitality and experiences to our guest and the team.

The Commis Chefs are passionate about their craft and all aspects of delivering great plates of food. With responsibility for all aspects of their section to deliver high quality standard of food across the restaurant, functions and other food outlets.

Working hard within the team the Commis Chefs will deliver consistent standards of cleanliness, tidiness and food service as well as be an engaged and motivated member of the team. Our Commis Chefs can be found working on any section in the kitchen and always learning from the experienced members of the team. They will start the day setting up their station and end it cleaning everything down.

Skill and experience are necessary to do this job, but more than anything else, we want someone who shares our vision of a hospitality industry that is better and sees themselves being part of the team who can make this happen!

We pay a fair wage – with our hourly pay being higher than the Government rates, at a minimum. Your earnings will be further enhanced by our 10% service charges and other tips that guests leave – with 100% of tips being retained by the team.
