Job summary

Clear Legal & Financial Recruitment is seeking an experienced Commercial Solicitor to join a well-established Hull law firm. You will manage a broad commercial caseload, draft and negotiate contracts, and advise on sales, acquisitions, and joint ventures for agricultural, landowner and SME clients.

The role requires 4-5 years PQE, England & Wales admission, and strong drafting, negotiation and client-care skills. This is a supportive, career-focused environment with opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor admitted in England & Wales.
• 4–5 years PQE in company commercial law.
• Experience advising agricultural or rural business clients.
• Knowledge of planning and development work is advantageous.

• Excellent client care and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload of company commercial matters from instruction to completion.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts.
• Advise on business sales, acquisitions, shareholder and partnership agreements.
• Provide legal advice to agricultural clients including farms and rural businesses.
• Advise on land development, planning agreements and development projects.
• Support clients with joint ventures, expansions and investments.
• Liaise with developers, landowners, accountants, surveyors and other advisers.
• Build relationships with clients while assisting business development.
• Keep up to date with changes in company, commercial and planning law.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members.

Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Solicitor to join a well-established and growing law firm based in Hull. This role is ideal for a solicitor with 4-5 years PQE who has experience advising commercial clients, within the agricultural sector and on planning and development matters.

You will work with a broad range of clients including agricultural businesses, landowners, developers, SMEs, and corporate organisations, providing commercially focused legal advice across a varied caseload.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of company commercial matters from instruction through to completion.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Advise on business sales and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements and corporate restructures.
• Provide legal advice to agricultural clients including farms, estates and rural businesses.
• Advise clients on land development, planning agreements and commercial aspects of development projects.
• Support clients with joint ventures, business expansion and investment transactions.
• Liaise with developers, landowners, accountants, surveyors and other professional advisers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while assisting with business development activities.
• Keep up to date with changes in company, commercial and planning legislation.
• Supervise and mentor junior members of the team where appropriate.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
• 4-5 years PQE within Company Commercial law.
• Experience advising agricultural or rural business clients.
• Knowledge of planning and development work would be highly advantageous.
