Job summary

NRL Group is seeking a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s team in a office-based role. You will manage contracts, cost control, and forecast financial performance to protect profitability across major projects.

Reporting to the commercial team, you will handle variations, cost analysis, and spend forecasting, collaborating with engineers and site teams to ensure contractual compliance and value for money across projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of contract management and commercial principles.
  • Proven cost control, variation management, and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or manufacturing project environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control project costs to meet budgets and targets.
  • Administer and manage variations per contract terms.
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance and forecasts.
  • Provide cost analysis to production teams to aid decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Support improved cost and time control processes.

Job Title Commercial Quantity Surveyor

Summary We're looking for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join our client's team. This role suits an individual with strong expertise in managing contracts, cost control, and project financial performance. You'll play a vital part in ensuring contractual compliance, controlling variations, and driving profitability across key operations.

Location and Working Pattern Office-based, 39 hours per week

Client Overview Our client is a leading organisation committed to delivering high-quality engineering and construction projects. They pride themselves on maintaining strong commercial control and building successful relationships with stakeholders throughout every stage of the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and control project costs to ensure budgets and commercial targets are achieved
  • Administer and manage variations in line with contractual terms
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance and forecasts
  • Provide cost analysis and feedback to production teams to aid decision-making
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
  • Support the implementation of improved cost and time control processes
  • Interpret and apply contract requirements effectively within project environments
  • Assist in resolving commercial issues and discrepancies across project documentation
  • Work closely with clients, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial alignment
Must-have Requirements

Nice-to-have Skills
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Experience in resolving discrepancies between design, specification, and site conditions
