Job summary

Prosperity Law LLP in Manchester is recruiting a salaried partner to lead and grow its commercial property practice. You will develop the practice through your own client following, supported by marketing, and will supervise fee earners as the team expands.

You will set pricing, manage workflow, and work with cross-referral teams to hit financial targets while complying with SRA requirements and maintaining a practising certificate.

Status: Salaried partner, full time

Purpose of the role

To lead, develop and grow Prosperity Law's commercial property practice developing it through the postholder's own following and business development, supported by our marketing department.

Main responsibilities

• Run a caseload of commercial property matters: acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant work, development, secured lending and portfolio management.
• Develop the practice: bring in the postholder's own clients and referrers, develop and build relationships with agents, brokers and lenders.
• Build the team: recruit, supervise and develop fee earners and support staff as the practice grows, including allocation of work, file reviews and appraisals.
• Set pricing and decide which matters the practice takes on.
• Work with the marketing function on enquiry generation and referrer relationships for the practice.
• Contribute to cross-referrals with the private client, family, commercial and wider teams.
• Meet the practice's financial targets.
• Comply with SRA requirements, the firm's risk, AML and file management procedures, and maintain a practising certificate.

Person specification

• Qualified solicitor or CILEX practitioner in England and Wales, 8+ years PQE in commercial property
• Experience across acquisitions and disposals, leases and landlord and tenant work
• An established following of clients and/or referrers
• Experience supervising fee earners
• A track record of meeting financial targets

Some or all of the following:

• Development and site assembly experience
• Secured lending and bank panel experience
• Portfolio or institutional landlord work
• Established relationships with agents, brokers or lenders in the North West
