Recruit4staff are representing a leading civil engineering business in their search for a Commercial Manager to work in Seascale.

Job Details
  • Pay: Circa £90,000 (Negotiable depending on skillset and experience)
  • Hours of Work: Full Time, Monday to Friday, Days (45 hours)
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Benefits: Car allowance £6,325, 8% employer pension contribution, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Location: Seascale, Cumbria (Commutable from: Drigg, Seascale, Egremont, Whitehaven, Cleator Moor, Gosforth, Workington, St Bees, Nethertown, Holmrook, Ravenglass)
Job Role

As Commercial Manager, you will oversee all commercial, contractual, and financial management activities for a major civils and infrastructure package within a complex and highly regulated setting.

You will ensure that commercial processes, cost management systems, and contract controls are robust, compliant, and aligned with NEC procedures.

Working alongside project managers, planners, engineers, supply chain partners, and regulatory stakeholders, you will lead commercial governance, cost forecasting, compensation event management, subcontract administration, change control, reporting, and risk/commercial strategy.

You will play a critical role in ensuring commercial assurance, value protection, accurate financial reporting, and successful commercial outcomes across all phases of the project.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager on large civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong competence with NEC3/NEC4 contract administration, especially ECC forms
  • Experience managing cost control, forecasting, CVRs, change management, and subcontract packages
  • Ability to lead commercial reviews, client reporting, and stakeholder interfacing
  • Strong understanding of risk management, early warnings, compensation events, and programme impacts
  • Excellent, Quantity Surveyor (Civil / Steel / Progression to Commercial Manager)
