Job summary

Reed in London is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead complex technology procurement for the Metropolitan Police Service. You will engage with senior stakeholders and shape sourcing strategies across software, cloud and IT services under a 6‑month temporary contract.

The role demands end-to-end procurement leadership, strong negotiation skills and a solid grasp of public sector regulations, including the Procurement Act 2023, with hybrid working (3 days onsite) in London.

Qualifications

Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join the Metropolitan Police Service. This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex technology procurement and sourcing activities, work closely with senior stakeholders, and support the delivery of strategic digital, cloud and AI-related programmes within one of the UK's largest public sector organisations.

Key Details:

• Contract: Temporary, 6 months
• Rate: £650 per day (Umbrella)
• Location: London (NW6)
• Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
• Clearance: CTC/NPPV2 required
• Start Date: ASAP

Role Responsibilities:

Required Experience:

• Proven end-to-end procurement delivery experience
• Strong technology sourcing background, including software, cloud, digital and IT services
• Experience leading procurement activities from market engagement through to contract award
• Strong knowledge of public sector procurement regulations, including the Procurement Act 2023
• Experience using a range of procurement frameworks and routes to market, not solely G-Cloud
• Excellent supplier negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrable experience delivering commercial value, savings and risk mitigation
• Ability to manage multiple procurements within a fast-paced environment

Highly Desirable:

• Experience within Policing, Central Government, Defence or other regulated public sector environments
• Experience using CCS and other public sector frameworks
• CIPS, IACCM or equivalent commercial qualifications
• Experience supporting technology transformation or AI-focused programmes
