Job summary

Equans seeks a Commercial Manager to join our team in a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours/week) covering London and the Southeast. You will support the Head of Commercial, lead contract audits, and drive negotiations to address variations while managing risk and governance across PFI contracts.

The role requires UK contract knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to influence at all levels, including senior management, with a focus on compliant and value-driven delivery.

Qualifications

  • Commercial experience within FM/PFI sectors.
  • Degree or diploma in Law, Business, Surveying, or Built Environment.
  • Knowledge of base UK contract law (Construction Act etc).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and influence at all levels, including senior management.
  • Confident decision-maker, resilient and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Commercial to meet contract and company objectives.
  • Take the Commercial lead on contract audits to verify deliverables.
  • Lead negotiations with clients to address contract variations.
  • Participate in governance processes including bid governance and Sector Risk Committee.
  • Lead dispute resolution activity across relevant contracts.
  • Ensure a contract review and governance framework is embedded on all contracts.
  • Mitigate key risks with Finance and Operations to resolve promptly.
  • Promote Equans values for safe, compliant and consistent working practices.

The post holder will cover contracts in London and the Southeast of England.The Commercial Manager will be the commercial resource supporting the operational team within a range of PFI contracts and partnerships across different sectors including Education and Government Buildings. They will provide contract commercial management services and profit improvement along with focus on compliance. In addition they may be required to support growth within the Sector on the existing contracts as well as new business development initiatives to extend the suite of contracts in the region.The Commercial Manager will manage numerous stakeholder relationships, including those with client representatives; Equans’ operational teams running the Contracts and other colleagues who provide functional support to the contracts (e.g. risk, finance, HR etc.)As part of the current contract extension process the Commercial Manager will be required to interact with managers of all levels both internally and within our Client organisations.
