Job summary

Veolia Energy and Water Northern is seeking a commercially minded professional to oversee contract and commercial control across multiple customer and sub-contractor agreements in Scotland. You will identify risks, support procurement, develop cost-control measures and provide timely management reports to senior leadership.

Experience with energy and water contracts and a main contractor background is advantageous.

Qualifications

• The candidate must be able to manage multiple customer and sub-contractor contracts.
• Demonstrated negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with projects/operations and commercial aspects of contracts; energy and water sector experience preferred but not essential.
• Experience working for a main contractor; energy and water sector experience preferred.
• Strong business acumen and knowledge of various contract forms.
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in commercial management, quantity surveying or engineering.

• Commercially supporting the Veolia Energy and Water Northern Business Unit.
• Overall responsibility for the commercial control of a number of contracts, bids, letters and processes.

• Supporting operational teams to recognise, analyse and mitigate risks and provide real solutions.
• Developing new, innovative solutions to commercial challenges.
• Estimating and implementing effective cost and value control measures.
• Working with procurement to structure supply chain contracts appropriately.
• Recognising and developing new business opportunities.
• Ensuring compliance with all HSEQ and statutory regulations, assisting the site team.
• Providing timely quantitative and qualitative management reports to the Senior Commercial Manager and Senior Leadership team.

• Commercially supporting the Veolia Energy and Water Northern Business Unit


• Overall responsibility for the commercial control of a number of contracts, bids, letters and processes


• Identifying risks, liabilities and commitments contained within contractual agreements


• Supporting the wider operational teams to recognise, analyse and mitigate risks bringing real solutions to commercial challenges


• Developing new, innovative solutions to commercial challenges


• Experience of estimating and putting in place effective cost and value control measures


• Working with procurement to ensure supply chain contracts across the business are structured to suitability


• Recognising and developing new business opportunities


• Demonstrating awareness of and assisting the site team to ensure that we comply with all HSEQ and statutory regulations


• Provide timely quantitative and qualitative management reports to the Senior Commercial Manager and the Senior Leadership team when requested

Requirements

• The ability to manage multiple customer & sub-contractors’ contracts


• Negotiations and stakeholder management (internal and external)


• Experience with projects/operations and commercial aspects of contracts -preferably within the energy and water sectors but this is not essential


• Experience working for a main contractor - preferably in the energy and water sectors


• Good business acumen


• Good knowledge of various forms of contract


• Relevant Degree and/or suitable experience in commercial/contract management, quantity surveying or engineering
