Job summary

Luton Bennett is recruiting a Commercial Manager (Project / Sales) in Ipswich to lead commercial activities from tender to delivery. The role involves close work with the MD and cross-functional teams to optimise margins and forecast accuracy.

Ideal candidates will have a background in engineering, manufacturing, energy or marine sectors, with proven negotiation and risk management skills, and a track record in post-project analysis for improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercially focused role such as Commercial Manager, Sales Manager, Project Manager, or similar.
• Forecasting experience and ability to review and act on cashflow and margins.
• Strong understanding of pricing, margins, and payment profiles.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain sales forecast.
• Control stock levels in line with sales forecast.

• Negotiate with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.

Commercial Manager (Project / Sales)

Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00

Commercial Manager required for a leading engineering company due to continued growth. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a company with a well-established trading history.

This role would suit an experienced Commercial Manager with experience in industries such as engineering, manufacturing, energy, marine or similar. This role would also suit commercially minded candidates with a background in Sales or Project Management looking for a commercially focused role and away from direct sales.

Working closely with the company's MD, the successful candidate will take a commercial lead on engineering projects, from tender to delivery.

The Commercial Manager Role:

• Own and maintain sales forecast
• Control stock levels in line with sales forecast
• Validate pricing, margins, payment profiles etc.
• Negotiation with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors
• Monitor project margins
• Complete post-project analysis for continuous improvement
• Work closely with sales, engineering and operations teams

The Commercial Manager Candidate:

• Experience in a commercially focused role - Commercial Manager, Sales Manager, Project manager or similar
• Experience in an industry related to engineering, manufacturing, energy, marine, capital equipment or similar
• Experience and understanding of pricing and margins
• Experience of managing commercial risks
• Forecasting experience
• Experience with post-project analysis
• Confident leading negotiations
