Job description

£50,000 – £55,000 + Bonus | On Site role | Blackburn

Are you an experienced Commercial Manager who enjoys looking beyond the day-to-day and asking “how can we do this better?”

We’re working with an established and growing business to appoint a Commercial Manager who will play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial performance of the organisation.

This is a broad and influential role, sitting closely alongside the senior leadership team, with responsibility for pricing, margins, forecasting, stock and order management, supplier relationships, imports and commercial decision‑making.

Import experience is particularly important. You’ll understand the impact of landed costs, freight, duties, currency and lead times and how these factors feed into pricing, margins, stock levels and ultimately profitability.

This is a close‑knit team where your input will genuinely be valued. You’ll be expected to bring your own ideas, challenge existing processes and look for opportunities to improve how the business operates.

There is also exciting potential for progression and succession for the right person, making this an opportunity for someone who is ambitious and wants to make a long-term impact.

What will you be doing?
  • Taking ownership of pricing, margins and profitability, considering market conditions, competition, import costs and customer requirements.
  • Negotiating pricing, supplier terms, rebates and commercial agreements.
  • Reviewing landed costs, freight, duties and other import‑related costs to support informed pricing decisions.
  • Managing and improving stock and order control, including reviewing reorder cycles, sales trends, stock levels and product performance.
  • Developing forecasting models and providing commercial insight to support financial planning and decision‑making.
  • Working with Finance and Sales on sales forecasts and budgets.
  • Monitoring sales, margins, stock turnover, customer profitability and supplier performance.
  • Researching competitors and market activity to identify opportunities, risks and changes in customer demand.
  • Supporting the introduction and launch of new products, including setting sales targets and monitoring performance.
  • Building strong relationships with overseas suppliers and supporting sourcing and procurement activity.
  • Managing supplier performance and negotiating purchasing terms.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working, including the use of BC365.
  • Providing commercial reporting and insight to senior management.
  • Managing and developing members of the procurement/import team.
About you

We’re looking for someone who has already operated successfully at Commercial Manager level and is ready for an opportunity where they can have genuine influence.

You’ll ideally have experience within a wholesale, distribution, import or product‑led environment, with a strong understanding of how purchasing, imports, pricing, stock and sales performance come together commercially.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Has strong commercial judgement and understands the relationship between cost, price, margin and profitability.
  • Has solid knowledge of imports and international supply chains.
  • Is confident negotiating with suppliers and commercial partners.
  • Can analyse sales, stock and market data and turn it into meaningful commercial decisions.
  • Has experience with forecasting, budgeting and KPI reporting.
  • Is commercially curious and keeps an eye on competitor activity, market trends and new product opportunities.
  • Is comfortable using ERP systems and Excel to analyse and interpret data.
  • Most importantly, is ambitious, proactive and hungry to progress.
The package
  • £50,000 – £55,000 salary + bonus
  • Excellent benefits package
  • Primarily office‑based
  • Some travel, including occasional overseas travel
  • Opportunity to work closely with the senior leadership team
  • Genuine opportunity for career progression and succession

If you’re an experienced Commercial Manager with strong import and supply chain knowledge, a commercial mindset and the ambition to make your mark, we’d love to hear from you.
