Job summary

Sheridan Maine is recruiting a Commercial Management Accountant for an established business. You will produce monthly management accounts, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide actionable financial insight to help drive decisions across operational teams.

You will own key balance sheet reconciliations, deliver regular financial and operational performance reports, and contribute to improvements in reporting processes and controls.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Management Accountant or Commercial Accountant role.
• Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
• Strong month-end and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Excellent budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ability to translate financial data into meaningful commercial insight.
• Experience in manufacturing or engineering is beneficial.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely month-end reporting.
• Support the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes, providing insightful variance analysis.
• Take ownership of key balance sheet reconciliations.
• Work closely with operational and commercial managers to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
• Prepare regular financial and operational performance reports.
• Support continuous improvements to financial reporting, processes and controls.
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and business projects as required.

Skills and Experience Required

• Proven experience in a Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant, Finance Analyst or Finance Business Partner role.
• A professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
• Strong month-end management accounting experience, with a sound understanding of financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Excellent budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis skills.
• Confident working with non-finance stakeholders and translating financial information into meaningful commercial insight.
• Strong Excel skills and excellent analytical abilities.
• Previous experience within manufacturing or engineering would be particularly beneficial.
