Job summary

Mace invites an experienced Commercial Lead to drive reporting and assurance across the reservoirs programme in a hybrid London-area role. You will oversee monthly reporting, forecasts, accruals and cost reporting, establishing governance and data-driven insights to support decision making.

You will manage a small team, coordinate across matrix teams, and develop a commercial assurance framework. MRICS or equivalent, degree in construction management or QS, and demonstrated post-contract

Qualifications

• Post-contract focus: lead month end processes including payments, forecasting, accruals, liabilities.
• Degree level education in construction management or QS.
• MRICS or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
• Experience in major infrastructure projects and matrix environments.
• Proven ability to develop and implement commercial strategies.

Responsibilities

• Direct the commercial reporting and assurance function for the reservoirs programme.
• Establish monthly reporting, dashboards and management information.
• Oversee forecasts, accruals, commitments and cost reporting.
• Develop and implement a commercial assurance framework and audit programme.
• Manage supply chain performance reporting and assurance processes.
• Provide strategic commercial insight to the leadership team.
• Drive governance and high performance across reporting activities.
• Identify risks/opportunities and coordinate interventions with the team.
• Mentor and coordinate reporting resources within the commercial group.

The opportunity

The commercial lead drives commercial reporting and assurance across the programme, delivering accurate forecasts, financial controls and performance insights. Leading commercial governance and supply chain performance, the role identifies risks and opportunities, provides strategic assurance, and enables informed decision-making through a high-performance, data-driven commercial culture.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Directing the commercial reporting and assurance function for the reservoirs programme.
• Establishing and continuously improve monthly reporting, performance dashboards, and management information.
• Overseeing and assuring programme forecasts, accruals, commitments, liabilities, and cost reporting.
• Developing and implementing a commercial assurance framework and audit programme.
• Managing supply chain performance reporting and assurance processes.
• Providing strategic commercial insight to the programme leadership team.
• Driving consistency, quality, and governance across commercial reporting activities.
• Supporting the development of a major programme commercial culture, linking operational delivery with strategic outcomes.
• Identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend proactive interventions.
• Managing, mentoring, and coordinating reporting and assurance resources within the wider commercial team.

You’ll need to have:

• Post-contract focus: significant experience in delivering and leading month end process including payments, forecasting, liabilities, accruals, etc.
• Educated to degree level in construction management, quantity surveying or equivalent.
• MRICS qualified or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
• Evidence of on-going management development and relevant personal development.
• Experience in similar role at a similar level in major infrastructure projects.
• Experienced working across complex matrix teams.
• Success at creating an aligned culture focussed on high performance.
• Adept in use of standard forms of contract and implementing commercial strategies.
• Management of small teams of quantity surveyors is essential.
• Stakeholder management in a complex matrix environment.
