Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor, also known as Commercial Lead, for a £90m project in Essex. This role involves managing the commercial function for the project and requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management. A strong understanding of the NEC form of contract is essential.

Overview

Job title: Commercial Lead – Essex

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + benefits & bonus

Location: Essex

Region: Essex

We are currently looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor or “Commercial Lead” for a £90m project based in Essex working for one of the UK’s leading Civil Engineering contractors.

In this role, you will be commercially responsible for the whole project and dealing with a complex and challenging client. This project has just hit the ground and the hiring manager is looking to interview candidates as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
  • To manage and supervise the commercial function and employees within the Sector on all allocated contracts in order to ensure financial performance meets targets set out in the Business Plan, whilst maximising returns.
  • To provide functional responsibility and report to the Head of Commercial / Commercial Manager on commercial and contractual matters as well as providing the same to Customer Project Managers (CPMs) on all operational requirements to support the Project Manager.
  • Ensuring cost reporting is accurate and completed on time.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships internally and externally and to promote and protect the contractor's reputation whilst remaining customer focused.
  • Exercising sound judgment around the production of monthly reports utilising the CVR process to achieve a good financial return in line with expectations and ensuring that commercial teams provide updates to the Project Managers and the Head of Commercial.
