Our national commercial team brings together our general commercial, digital, IP, energy and renewables, projects, and procurement teams. Representing an impressive range of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 clients, public sector organizations, educational institutions, and industry bodies, the team plays a vital role in helping clients build growth and success. It is one of the largest and most successful teams of its type, comprising sector specialists across industries such as advanced manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace and defence, energy and renewables, transport and logistics, and international trade. Our lawyers are based across the UK and include nationally recognized leaders. The team collaborates with US colleagues on international projects and works with other member firms worldwide, providing a blend of City presence and local knowledge for foreign investors needing UK assistance.

We are offering an opportunity for a 3+ to senior PQE commercial contracts lawyer to join our team to support our pipeline of projects.

What does the team do?

We advise on a wide range of contractual arrangements related to strategic projects and daily business across various industries. Our focus includes supporting advanced manufacturing companies, from major process plant operators to specialized life sciences supply chains. We assist with procurement, supply chain management, product development, and routes to market, with a particular emphasis on energy transition, decarbonisation projects, and productivity initiatives.

You will be involved in all aspects of transactions and projects, including contract strategy, drafting, negotiation, data protection (with support from our privacy specialists), and risk management.

Joining us means working with a diverse group of professionals who support each other and embrace creativity. You will work closely with in-house legal teams and provide in-house style support for businesses without internal lawyers. Our team members' industry experience ensures your workload resembles in-house work, but with the variety of a broad client base, keeping your work engaging. You will also collaborate with specialists in other areas as needed.

You will contribute to expanding our work on multi-jurisdictional projects, working on large industrial projects for multinational corporations and supporting growing scale-up businesses and SMEs. There are opportunities to help regional and UK businesses enter new markets, especially in the USA and Saudi Arabia, including international secondments.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

We seek a lawyer with over 3 years of post-qualification experience in commercial contracts, gained at a City or large regional firm or in-house. Experience with international clients, import/export, tech, IP, and data protection is advantageous but not essential. Candidates must have excellent drafting and communication skills, enthusiasm for the practice area, and a commitment to delivering first-class client service.

Minimum requirements include:

  • At least 3 years of post-qualified experience in commercial contracts as a UK solicitor.
  • Practical experience in a commercial environment, applying contract law at a large firm or in-house.
  • Expertise in complex transactions, including supply chain, procurement, outsourcing, R&D, and sales channels.
  • The ability to provide clear, practical advice understandable to non-lawyers.
