Commercial Gas Engineer

Location: HMP Albany (IOW), Albany, 55 Parkhurst Rd, Newport PO30 5RS

Salary: £41,818.21 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full-time, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a dedicated Commercial Gas Engineer to join our team at HMP Albany (IOW), a category B adult male prison. Join a supportive team committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment.

Team and Environment

HMP Albany operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is dedicated to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators.
• Maintain and service commercial gas appliances and systems.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including Water Supply Regulation, Legionella L8, and Gas Safe standards.
• Possibly work with commercial catering gas appliances.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum two years' experience as a heating or combustion engineer or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation, Legionella L8, and Gas Safe regulations.
• Experience with commercial catering gas appliances is a plus.
• Qualifications: C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, CCN1, COCN1.
• Good health and safety knowledge.
• Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
