Job summary

Solutions Engineering Recruitment is seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join a growing mechanical and building services team in Preston. The role covers servicing, maintenance and breakdown support across commercial sites in the Northwest.

You will work on boilers, plant rooms, and gas pipework with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance and customer service. Full UK driving licence and Gas Safe registration are required.

Qualifications

• Commercial Gas qualifications required (NVQ 2/3 or equivalent).
• Current Gas Safe registration with relevant commercial competencies.
• Experience with commercial boilers and heating systems.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with commercial gas pipework.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Professional approach and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair commercial gas appliances and heating systems.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on commercial boilers and associated plant.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown works.
• Install and modify commercial gas pipework and associated equipment.
• Work within commercial plant rooms and boiler rooms.
• Carry out gas safety checks, testing and commissioning.
• Work on commercial heating and hot water systems.
• Complete installation and maintenance work to relevant legislation and standards.
• Carry out fault finding on controls and electrical components where competent.
• Complete service reports, paperwork and certification accurately.
• Liaise with customers, clients and engineers on site.
• Ensure work complies with Health & Safety procedures.
• Participate in emergency callouts when required.
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicle and PPE to standard.

Position - Commercial Gas Engineer

Location - Preston

Salary/Package - £40,000 - £50,000, Van/Fuel Card, PPE/Tools, Mobile/Tech, 32 days holiday including banks, 1 in 6 call out - additional increments and extra pay if called out, OT available - Increased rates, Career progression.

Purpose of the role

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join a growing mechanical and building services team, delivering servicing, maintenance, and breakdown support across commercial and public-sector sites throughout the Northwest.

The successful candidate will work on a range of commercial heating and gas systems, including boilers, plant room equipment, commercial gas pipework and associated heating systems. The role will involve both planned and reactive works, with a strong focus on safety, compliance and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair commercial gas appliances and heating systems.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on commercial boilers and associated plant.

• Complete all relevant service reports, paperwork and certification accurately.
• Liaise professionally with customers, clients and other engineers on site.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.
• Participate in emergency callouts where required.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicle and PPE to the required standard.

You must have or hold

• Commercial Gas qualifications - NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent.
• Current Gas Safe registration with relevant commercial competencies.
• Experience with commercial boilers and heating systems.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with commercial gas pipework.
• Full UK driving licence.
• A professional approach and good customer service skills.
• Additional qualifications such as LPG, Gas Boosters, 18th Edition, BMS or electrical experience would be advantageous but are not essential.

Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided where required.
