Job summary

Optima Site Solutions Ltd is seeking a competent Commercial Gas Engineer for installation, servicing and maintenance across commercial projects in Birmingham and surrounding areas. Occasional travel outside Birmingham is required.

The ideal candidate has strong commercial gas engineering or plumbing trade experience, with a focus on safe, competent work and adherence to gas safety regulations. A company van, fuel card, 28 days holiday and overtime at time and a half are offered.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualifications in plumbing, gas engineering, or a related discipline.
• Competence and practical experience in commercial gas installation, servicing and maintenance.
• Ability to undertake installation and servicing work with occasional breakdown duties.
• Willingness to travel outside Birmingham when required; LPG and oil systems knowledge is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out commercial gas installation work on a range of projects.
• Perform servicing and maintenance of commercial gas systems and equipment.
• Attend to breakdowns when required; breakdown work is less frequent.
• Work across projects of varying durations, from short to long-term.
• Travel across Birmingham area and occasionally to outside locations.
• Apply gas safety requirements and work safely and competently.

Commercial Gas Engineer

Working Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum DOE + Overtime at Time and a Half

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a competent and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to carry out installation, servicing, and maintenance work across commercial projects in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. The role will primarily focus on commercial gas installations and servicing, with occasional breakdown work. Projects vary in duration, typically ranging from a few days to a couple of months, with occasional travel required outside the Birmingham area.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial gas engineering or a relevant plumbing trade, with the practical skills and technical knowledge required to undertake assigned work safely and competently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out commercial gas installation work across a range of projects
• Undertake servicing and maintenance of commercial gas systems and equipment
• Attend to commercial gas breakdowns and associated repair work when required, although breakdown work forms a smaller proportion of the role
• Work on projects of varying durations, from short-term assignments lasting a few days to longer projects spanning several months
• Carry out work primarily across Birmingham, with occasional travel to projects outside the area
• Apply relevant trade knowledge and practical engineering skills to complete installation, servicing, and maintenance activities
• Ensure all work is undertaken safely, competently, and in accordance with applicable gas safety requirements

Requirements

• Relevant trade qualifications in plumbing, gas engineering, or a related discipline
• Competence and practical experience relevant to commercial gas installation, servicing, and maintenance
• Ability to undertake commercial installation and servicing work, with occasional breakdown responsibilities
• Ability to work across projects of varying durations and travel outside Birmingham when required
• Competence in LPG and Oil systems would be advantageous
