Job summary

Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment Ltd in Derbyshire is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day finance function across a growing multi-site group. You will report to the CFO, drive robust financial control, and support business growth with commercial insight.

The role requires strong technical accounting and leadership, with responsibility for budgeting, cash flow, and external audits. An ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification is essential.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
• Experience as Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Strong technical and management accounting experience.
• Experience leading a finance team.
• Excellent Excel skills and financial modelling.
• Experience with audit, statutory reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• NetSuite and multi-entity/group experience advantageous.
• Hospitality, leisure, tourism, entertainment or other multi-site experience would be a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Finance team, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee month-end, management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and scenario planning.
• Provide commercial analysis and insight to the senior leadership team.
• Manage external audit, statutory accounts, VAT and wider compliance requirements.
• Strengthen financial controls, processes and reporting across the Group.
• Drive systems and process improvements, including automation and improved data visibility.
• Partner closely with Operations and senior stakeholders to support business performance and growth.
