Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a growing residential-focused building firm. You will handle cost planning, tendering, procurement, and financial control across bespoke new builds, extensions and renovations.

You'll measure drawings, prepare estimates, manage subcontractor quotes, monitor budgets and ensure profitability, while liaising with project managers and clients to deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Quantity Surveying or estimating experience within residential construction.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Confidence dealing directly with clients.
• Experience pricing extensions, renovations or new-build housing.
• Ability to read architectural and structural drawings.
• Strong Excel and computer skills.
• Proactive and organised approach.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience within kitchens, bathrooms or luxury residential construction advantageous.

You'll work on a wide variety of residential construction projects including:

Key Duties

As part of the commercial team you will:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions

Client & Design Responsibilities

You will also play an important client-facing role by:

• Meeting clients to discuss their projects and aspirations
• Consulting with customers to understand their specification, budget and priorities
• Working alongside our designers and project managers to develop practical, cost-effective solutions
• Presenting quotations and commercial proposals to clients
• Explaining build costs and alternative options where appropriate
• Managing specification changes and client variations throughout the project
• Assisting clients with selecting construction finishes, kitchens and bathrooms where required
• Supporting projects from initial enquiry through to contract award and construction

Candidate Requirements
