Job summary

Streamline Search Limited is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its established team in Derby. You will interpret drawings and specifications, prepare accurate estimates from enquiry to submission, and ensure commercial viability of projects.

The role involves liaising with clients, suppliers and internal teams, carrying out costings for materials, labour and subcontracts, and supporting tender negotiations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Estimator in construction, engineering, manufacturing or related environment.
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience producing detailed estimates and quotations.
• Good understanding of materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple enquiries and meet deadlines.
• Proficient IT skills, especially Excel and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review enquiries, drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and quotations.
• Carry out material, labour and subcontractor costings.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Complete take-offs and identify project requirements.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to clarify requirements.
• Identify potential risks, exclusions and opportunities within tenders.
• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Maintain estimating records and update costs as required.
• Support the commercial team with tender negotiations and handovers.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners.
