The ideal candidate will bring a robust understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract, contract law, and the ability to navigate commercial triggers, risks, and opportunities with confidence and precision.
This is a pivotal role with significant responsibility. You will not only lead on all commercial and contractual matters but also contribute strategically to business growth. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the full commercial lifecycle of projects, ensuring best practices in contract negotiation, administration, and execution.
- Provide expert guidance on NEC and JCT contracts, identifying risks, triggers, clauses, and commercial protections.
- Act as a subject matter expert in contract law, ensuring full compliance, mitigating risk, and resolving disputes effectively.
- Oversee contract governance processes and reporting, ensuring all projects are commercially robust and deliver margin expectations.
- Lead the commercial interface between operations, clients, and legal teams to ensure clarity, transparency, and control.
- Use your personal industry network to deliver introductions, win business, and support the expansion of the client base across the Utilities market (ICP/DNO/IDNO).
- Contribute to the strategic direction and commercial growth of the business by identifying new opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
- Play an integral role in achieving the organisation’s long-term growth ambition to reach £1 billion in revenue by 2030.
Key Requirements:
- Significant senior-level experience in commercial and contract management, ideally as a Commercial Director or Head of Commercial.
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with NEC3/4, JCT contracts, and UK contract law.
- Proven ability to interpret and manage contractual triggers, entitlements, obligations, and dispute resolution processes.
- Background in the Utilities sector, with specific knowledge of ICP (Independent Connection Providers), DNO, and IDNO frameworks.
- Strong industry contacts and the ability to deliver commercial opportunities through introductions and business development.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Results-driven, commercially focused, and aligned with high-growth, high-performance environments.
Why Apply?
- Join a forward-thinking, growth-focused group at the forefront of the Construction & Utilities sector.
- Influence and shape the commercial backbone of a business targeting £1 billion+ turnover by 2030.
- Be rewarded with a £150,000+ salary, executive-level benefits, and performance-linked incentives.
- Work alongside a visionary leadership team in a values-driven, ambitious culture.
