Oculus Legal Group in Birmingham is seeking a Commercial Contracts Solicitor / Technology Associate with 1-5 PQE to join a leading international practice. The role offers exposure to commercial and technology-led work, with a strong bonus potential and international platform.

You’ll handle general commercial contracts, software licensing, SaaS, data protection, AI governance, and cybersecurity matters, within a hybrid working environment and clear progression opportunities.

Qualifications

Experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
Background spanning technology, AI or data matters is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Draft, review and negotiate complex general commercial contracts.
Handle technology outsourcing and managed services agreements.
Draft software licensing, SaaS, cloud and tech procurement.
Negotiate strategic supplier and customer agreements.
Support data protection, UK GDPR compliance and data transfers.
Address AI governance, cybersecurity and PECR issues.

I’m working with a leading international law firm looking to appoint a 1-5 PQE Associate to its established Birmingham Commercial team.

Importantly, you do not need to be a specialist technology lawyer to be considered.

The team is equally interested in lawyers coming from a strong general commercial contracts background who have experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements and would like to increase their exposure to technology-led work.

The work can include:

General commercial contracts, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex agreements
Technology, outsourcing and managed service agreements
Software licensing, SaaS, cloud and technology procurement

Data processing, sharing and international transfer arrangements
AI governance and emerging technology matters
Cybersecurity, data breaches and incident response
Digital marketing, e-Privacy and PECR
Strategic commercial and technology projects
