Job summary

Herbert Parkinson, part of the John Lewis Partnership, seeks a Commercial Analyst to safeguard margins through precise pricing execution and robust BOM/labour data. You will own product costing models, monitor cost trends, and support quotes and contract negotiations to drive commercial growth.

• Experience in a cost analyst or product data role in manufacturing.
• Advanced proficiency in data modelling techniques & analytics.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear, concise reports & recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain product cost models to evaluate labour, raw material, and other variable costs, ensuring target gross margins are achieved on all new and existing products.
• Monitor raw material price fluctuations, labour inflation, and market trends to recommend timely price adjustments and mitigate margin erosion.
• Support in the creation and validation of customer quotes, price lists, and promotional pricing structures.
• Provide clean, validated commercial data to Finance, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and contract negotiations.
• Manage the accurate creation and continuous maintenance of product setups, labour timings and Bill of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system; process BOM and timing changes stemming from material changes, product redesigns or supplier updates to support accurate costing and protect margins.
• Support the Product manager in the timely exiting of products and removal of associated BOMs and timings in the most efficient way ensuring no business risk or impact to customers.
