Our client is a growing commercial insurance brokerage looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join their business on a fully remote basis.
You will manage a portfolio of commercial clients, overseeing renewals, mid-term adjustments and day-to-day enquiries while working directly with insurers and underwriters to secure appropriate cover.
Alongside account management, you will play an important role in developing the business by identifying opportunities to win new clients, cross-sell additional insurance products and strengthen existing relationships to support renewals and client retention.
Working closely with the Commercial Director, you will receive support as you become familiar with the portfolio and processes, with the opportunity to develop greater autonomy and responsibility as the business grows.
Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance clients, providing a high standard of service and acting as their main point of contact.
Manage the full renewal process, from client reviews and gathering information through to quotations, placement and policy inception.
Handle mid-term adjustments, policy amendments and day-to-day client enquiries.
Review clients changing business activities and risk exposures, identifying potential gaps in cover or areas of underinsurance.
Obtain, negotiate and compare quotations from insurers, reviewing premiums, cover levels, limits, excesses, endorsements and policy conditions.
Prepare underwriting submissions and liaise directly with insurers and underwriters.
Handle new business enquiries from initial fact-find through to placement.
Identify opportunities to win new clients, cross-sell additional cover and develop existing accounts to support business growth and retention.
Maintain accurate client records, renewal diaries and policy documentation.
Work in accordance with FCA requirements and relevant compliance procedures.

The portfolio includes:

Employers , Public and Products Liability
Property Owners
Professional Indemnity
Directors and Officers Insurance
Cyber Insurance

You will not need to be an expert in every class of business, but you should have a sound grounding in commercial insurance, the ability to assess different risks and the judgement to recognise when additional technical support is required.
You will have recent experience within a commercial insurance broking environment and be confident dealing directly with clients and insurers.
At least three years commercial insurance broking or account handling experience.
Experience managing commercial renewals, mid-term adjustments and client servicing.
Knowledge of a range of commercial insurance products and the placement process.
Experience obtaining quotations and negotiating with insurers and underwriters.
The ability to review policy cover and terms, rather than focusing on premium alone.
Strong communication, organisation and diary management skills.
The ability to manage your workload independently and take ownership of client matters.
A client-focused, commercially minded approach with strong attention to detail.
The confidence to identify business development opportunities, including new client wins, cross-selling and supporting renewals and retention.
Experience within an insurance network or Appointed Representative environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
Acturis experience would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
Familiarity with insurer extranets and commercial insurance trading platforms is desirable.
Cert CII, or progress towards professional insurance qualifications, would be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to join a growing business at an early stage, with scope to develop into senior account handling, broking, account executive responsibilities, managing larger and more complex clients, developing insurer relationships or future team leadership as the business expands.
If you have commercial insurance account handling experience and are looking for a fully remote role offering variety, autonomy, uncapped commission potential and long-term career development, we would be keen to hear from you.
