Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a part-time Collections Assistant to care for a historic house and its treasured objects. You will support housekeeping in daily cleaning and handling, help present the collection to visitors, and keep accurate records. The role involves talking to guests about the work and the stories behind the collections.

You will work with volunteers and staff to ensure high standards of conservation and guest experience, in a welcoming historic setting.

About the role

We're looking for a Collections Assistant with a passion for history, a keen eye for detail and a friendly, welcoming approach. In this role, you'll help care for a historic house and its collection of precious objects, furniture and works of art, ensuring they are conserved and presented to a high standard. You'll also play an important part in bringing these stories to life for visitors, helping to create memorable and enjoyable experiences for everyone who comes through our doors., As a Collections Assistant, you'll be working with a supportive housekeeping team in an inspiring historic setting. You'll be helping with the day-to-day cleaning and care of the precious collections of objects, works of art, textiles and furniture that are part of the house's history. You'll be alert to details and changes, and will keep a keen eye on everything from the environmental conditions in a room to any signs of wear and tear. You'll also be keeping accurate records, and providing support to our Collections and House volunteers when needed. Salary and Hours

Salary: 13.25 per hour Contract Duration: Fixed term until 30th April 2027 Working Hours: You'll work 15 hours per week on a three-week rolling rota, which includes working one weekend in every three, and some Bank Holidays.
